Some photo sessions feel like a reunion, and this was one of them. I had the absolute joy of photographing Melina and Richie’s engagement session this weekend at Sherwood Gardens, a hidden gem in Baltimore that’s always stunning in the morning light. As a Baltimore engagement photographer, I love capturing love stories in iconic locations like this. Melina and I played volleyball together at Johns Hopkins for a couple of years, so it was incredibly special to reconnect and document this milestone in her life.


The two of them were in town for a powerlifting meet (which, let’s be honest, is about as cool as it gets), and we carved out time for this engagement photoshoot after their competition. Even in the early hours, their energy was effortless and full of laughter—so much so that you’d never guess they had a big day the day prior.

A Dreamy Baltimore Engagement Session

 

Sherwood Gardens gave us the perfect mix of natural beauty and intimate, quiet corners. The soft blooming trees and morning light created a dreamy backdrop for their easygoing love. They’re the kind of couple who make you feel like you’ve known them forever—comfortable, warm, and completely at ease in each other’s presence. Richie’s subtle but undeniable adoration for Melina, and the way she lights up around him, made my job incredibly easy.


I love engagement shoots that feel less like posed moments and more like an extension of who a couple truly is. With Melina and Richie, that meant movement, laughter, and a lot of effortless in-between moments that tell their story just as much as the classic portraits do. Their love is strong—literally and figuratively—and it was an honor to capture it.
